The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and United Health Foundation today announced a collaborative effort with the BMJ Publishing Group to support pediatricians in their practice of evidence-based medicine. This partnership will result in 60,000 pediatricians receiving free access to print and online versions of Clinical Evidence Pediatrics, the international resource of the best available evidence for effective health care.
"For 75 years the AAP and its member physicians have dedicated their efforts and resources to the provision of the highest quality, safest and most appropriate health care to children and adolescents," said AAP President, Carol Berkowitz, M.D. "Clinical Evidence Pediatrics is a valuable resource in pursuit of this goal, and we appreciate United Health Foundation joining with the Academy and BMJ to provide this evidence-based clinical tool to pediatricians. Given the pace of new scientific knowledge and clinically relevant research in pediatrics, this updated edition will significantly support pediatricians in their translation of knowledge into quality and effective health care provided to children and adolescents."
This edition of Clinical Evidence Pediatrics represents the second time that pediatric-specific and evidence-based information relevant to pediatric clinical practice has been assembled and updated into a single volume. The 65 full-text topics address the major diseases and conditions relevant to practicing pediatricians. In addition, the free online service provides access to the complete Clinical Evidence edition with its 200 topics covering the full spectrum of adult and pediatric conditions.
"We at United Health Foundation are pleased to work together with the AAP to support high quality and appropriate health care for children and adolescents. We know from our six-year experience of distributing Clinical Evidence to more than 5 million physicians that this publication is useful and appreciated. We applaud the Academy for its leadership in assisting its members in optimizing health outcomes," said William W. McGuire, M.D., chairman, United Health Foundation.
The American Academy of Pediatrics is an organization of 60,000 primary care pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists and pediatric surgical specialists dedicated to the health, safety and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults.
