Fresenius Medical Care Supports Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

Fresenius Medical Care AG ("the Company") (Frankfurt Stock Exchange: FME, FME3) (NYSE: FMS, FMS-p), the world's largest provider of Dialysis Products and Services, today announced that it has established a fund to assist dialysis patients impacted by Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast of the United States. In addition, the Company's subsidiary, Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), has established an Employee Disaster Relief Fund. The Company will match dollar for dollar of any employee donations to these funds. Fresenius Medical Care has initially contributed to these funds providing a base.

Furthermore, in keeping with Fresenius Medical Care's mission to serve patients and employees, FMCNA's nationwide disaster response team has worked tirelessly around the clock to continue to provide care for dialysis patients impacted on the Gulf Coast of the United States. Fresenius Medical Services, together with strong support and supply chain management provided by the Products & Hospital Group of FMCNA, and under the leadership of its disaster response team, was able to expeditiously relocate patients and their families to other FMCNA clinics. FMCNA's national network of products and services has coordinated a major mobilization effort to provide dialysis machines, supplies, generators, food and water, clothing, fuel and staffing, not only for the benefit of its own patients, but also for other dialysis providers, to ensure continuous treatment for all patients affected by Hurricane Katrina.
