Teleflex Medical Expands Respiratory Offering With Nasal-Aire II Critical Care
Posted on: Tuesday, 13 September 2005, 12:00 CDT
The Teleflex Medical Products, a division of Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE:TFX), announced today it has entered an exclusive U.S. distribution agreement for the Nasal-Aire(R) II Critical Care patient interface developed by InnoMed Technologies, Inc.
"We are very pleased with our new relationship with Teleflex Medical," stated Sanjay Chandran, CEO of InnoMed Technologies, "It is the ideal business partner to bring the patented Nasal-Aire(R) technology into the critical care marketplace."
The Nasal-Aire(R) II Critical Care patient interface is a single patient use, disposable device intended for use in the hospital and other critical care settings for the administration of non-invasive ventilation (NIV). It features a patented nosepiece unique to the marketplace that seals on the inside of the nose rather than being compressed against it. This design makes the bulky headgear required to achieve a seal with traditional NIV patient interfaces obsolete, eliminating pressure on the face and bridge of the nose. This patient-friendly device also allows the user to converse, eat, drink and wear glasses while receiving therapy, actions that cannot easily be done with other NIV mask options.
"We are very excited about the prospect of selling the Nasal-Aire(R) II Critical Care interface product as it complements our existing lines and our future initiatives in NIV," said Richard Kindberg, Senior Vice President Teleflex Medical and General Manager of the Medical Products Division. Kindberg explained further, "We are also confident that the improved level of patient comfort this product offers will lead to increased therapy compliance and better patient outcomes - all at an affordable price."
