Intraop Medical Moves to a New 14,000 Square Foot Production Facility; Tripling Production and Testing Capacity

Posted on: Wednesday, 14 September 2005, 09:00 CDT

Intraop Medical (OTCBB:IOPM), manufacturer and developer of the Mobetron(R), an innovative machine used to deliver intraoperative radiation treatment (IORT) during cancer surgery, announces that it is moving to a new corporate headquarters and testing facility located in Sunnyvale, California. The new facility occupies over 14,000 square feet, more than tripling the Company's current capacity, and includes several rooms shielded for radiation. Although the Mobetron requires no additional room shielding while treating patients, shielded facilities are needed during the extensive testing of the system prior to shipping it to a customer.

Intraoperative Radiation Therapy (IORT) is the direct application of radiation to the tumor or tumor bed while a patient is undergoing surgery for cancer. A single two-minute IORT treatment can often eliminate several weeks of conventional pre- or post-operative external beam radiation therapy because the normal tissues surrounding the tumor can be displaced or protected while IORT is administered as part of the surgical procedure to remove the tumor.

Dr. Donald A. Goer, Chief Executive Officer, commented, "The ability to transition into a larger headquarters demonstrates the significant growth Intraop has experienced in the past six months and further demonstrates our company's ambitions for growth in the future. Our old headquarters had only one test cell that limited our ability to ship multiple Mobetron systems at a time. Our new facility now provides us with the testing space needed to ramp up production and meet our anticipated customer demand."

Rich Simon, Vice-President of Operations, said "This new facility will allow us to consolidate our engineering and testing activities, improving our efficiency and reducing the cost to test the Mobetron."
