Posted on: Wednesday, 14 September 2005, 12:00 CDT

Health monitor Network, one of the nation's leading multimedia consumer health/patient education publishing companies, unveiled its new Educate program today at the Pharmaceutical Marketing Congress in Philadelphia. A direct response to the recently issued DTC guidelines issued by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association of America (PhRMA), Educate includes a range of educational materials, compliance tools, and information deliverable to patients and physicians in print, electronic, and web formats.

"The Health monitor publishing model--to provide targeted health and product information for patients and physicians-- coupled with our in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, enabled us to effectively and quickly address the new DTC guidelines and create the Educate program," commented Eric Jensen, publisher and president. "As the largest 'point-of-care' network, we feel Health monitor is the perfect conduit to help pharmaceutical companies educate patients about diseases, conditions, and treatment options and physicians about drug information, risks, and safety, as well as new products and indications."

Health monitor Network's ten publications are distributed in 65,000 physician offices and reach more than 40 million patients, 200,000 physicians, and tens of thousands of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and diabetes educators. Editions include the bi-monthlies Health monitor (general health), Diabetes Health monitor, Heart Care Health monitor, Allergies & Asthma Health monitor, and Arthritis Health monitor. Its quarterly publications include Living with Cancer Health monitor, Dermatology Health monitor, Digestion & Diet Health monitor, and Health monitor en Espanol (general health). The company also publishes Pediatrics Health monitor (a bi-annual) and Medical Updates for physicians.

"As a facilitator of dialogue between patients and their physicians, Health monitor Network is well positioned to take an active role in helping pharmaceutical companies support the new PhRMA guidelines. The new Educate program focuses on education, awareness, compliance, appropriate care, and the encouragement of patients and physicians to speak to each other about all of these important issues," commented Senior Vice President Ken Freirich.
