Today: Andy Stern, SEIU International President, Will Visit CPMC Strikers, Announce Major Support

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Andy Stern, president of the 1.8 million-member Service Employees International Union and a leader of the new Change to Win Coalition, will visit with caregivers striking at the California Pacific Medical Center Friday morning, beginning at 10 a.m.
Stern will announce major new financial support for the SEIU United Healthcare Workers - West caregivers forced out on strike by CPMC unfair labor practices, and will offer words of encouragement for some 4,000 other SEIU UHW caregivers fighting for quality patient care against Sutter Health, the CPMC parent corporation. Joining Stern on the picket line will be a number of labor and community leaders, including Sean Harrigan, vice president of the United Food and Commercial Workers (and former CalPERS board member), and Chuck Mack, president of the Western State Conference of Teamsters, as well as Sal Rosselli, president of SEIU UHW.
