Health Net's Seniority Plus Medicare Advantage Plan Earns 'Excellent' Accreditation From NCQA
Posted on: Monday, 19 September 2005, 18:00 CDT
Health Net of California, one of the largest health plans in the state, today announced that its Seniority Plus Medicare Advantage plan earned the highest accreditation status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
The NCQA raised its rating from "commendable" to "excellent" based on Health Net's 2005 HEDIS(R)(a) results. The new status became effective August 24, 2005. Health Net's commercial HMO and POS plans already carry the "excellent" accreditation status.
"Earning NCQA's 'excellent' accreditation is another reason why Health Net is a better decision for our members," said Stephen Lynch, president and CEO of Health Net of California. "This accreditation status underscores our commitment to quality, as we partner with health care providers who share our commitment to providing access to quality care."
"NCQA's 'excellent' accreditation status is reserved for the best health plans in the nation," said Margaret E. O'Kane, president of NCQA. "It is only awarded to those plans that meet or exceed NCQA's rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement and deliver access to excellent care."
About NCQA and HEDIS
NCQA is an independent, not-for profit organization dedicated to measuring the quality of America's health care. HEDIS, the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set, is a set of standardized performance measures designed to ensure that purchasers and consumers have the information they need to reliably compare health care quality. The measures in HEDIS are related to many significant public health issues, such as cancer, heart disease, smoking, asthma and diabetes. Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that purchasers, regulators and consumers can use to assess health plans. It is a voluntary review process that evaluates how a health plan ensures its members are receiving high-quality care.
