Three Indonesian children hospitalized for bird flu symptoms
JAKARTA, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Three children between three and nine years old have been admitted to the Suliyanti Saroso Hospital in North Jakarta after developing bird flu symptoms, a medical staff said Monday.
Two of the children have been being treated at the intensive care unit for six days while the latest patient came to the hospital Sunday, all are suffering high fever and respiratory problems, the staff said on condition of anonymity.
The blood sample of one of the three children has been sent to Hong Kong for further examination, the hospital staff told Xinhua.
The Detikcom online news service said the latest patient suspected of developing bird flu symptoms was a three-year-old girl named Rosnani Ningsih.
Bird flu outbreak has become a major concern of the government after four people, including two children, died recently of the disease.
