Cardiac Science Delivers Advanced Web-Enabled Cardiology Data Management System

Posted on: Wednesday, 21 September 2005, 09:00 CDT

BOTHELL, Wash., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cardiac Science Corporation , a global leader in advanced cardiology products, announced today that it is shipping a web version of its popular Pyramis(R) cardiology data management system used by hospitals. This sophisticated system allows storage, editing, retrieval, and sharing of data from electrocardiographs, cardiac stress tests, Holter tests, and 12-lead ECGs from bedside monitors. With the new version installed, authorized users are easily able to access the data, with full privileges, from anywhere.

According to Kathryn Coleman, CCT, the Lead Tech for Noninvasive Cardiovascular Diagnostic Services at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno, CA, "Pyramis has made it easier for our Medical Staff to read ECGs online, which in turn has improved our efficiency and productivity. We had a high level of physician satisfaction with the original system, but we're finding that they're even more pleased with the Web version."

In healthcare today, there is a strong drive towards digitization of patient data for ease of access and efficiency. This is facilitated by direct import of information from medical devices into data management systems and by integrating various data management systems together to provide a single point of access. Pyramis(R) is a world class data management system from Cardiac Science that pulls data together from various diagnostic cardiology devices. The release of the web version of Pyramis(R) will facilitate integration with other data management systems and make digitization easier for customers.

"Over the past two years, we have made several improvements to Pyramis(R), including this new web version. We are very excited about the possibilities this will open up for our customers and, as a result, the potential for worldwide growth for our data management and device solutions. The new web version also supports our agreement with the Cerner Corporation by providing the communication infrastructure to seamlessly integrate our respective management systems," stated Atul Jhalani, vice president of marketing.

In November, 2004 Cardiac Science (at the time Quinton Cardiology) announced a global value-added reseller agreement with the Cerner Corporation under which Cerner distributes the Pyramis(R) data management system. As part of this agreement, Cerner will develop an interface to Pyramis(R) with its hospital information system architecture, Cerner Millennium(R), expanding the ability of both companies to provide advanced, integrated solutions for managing cardiology data for hospitals and physicians offices.
