Nautilus Introduces Winter Fitness Equipment and Apparel Lineup to Bike Dealers
Posted on: Monday, 26 September 2005, 12:00 CDT
Nautilus, Inc., (NYSE:NLS), a leading fitness company, is launching its first-ever combined marketing program involving both fitness equipment and performance apparel at Interbike, a national exposition attracting 10,000 bicycle dealers and staff.
Nautilus is showcasing its latest innovative home fitness equipment under Schwinn(R)Fitness, Bowflex(R), Trimline(R) and Nautilus(R) brands, in conjunction with Pearl iZUMi(R), the industry's leading brand of performance apparel and footwear. Nautilus presently markets fitness equipment to 860 independent bicycle dealers, and apparel and footwear to 2,000 independent bicycle dealers.
"We are excited to present both our fitness equipment and performance apparel lines to bicycle dealers who cater to fitness enthusiasts that increasingly train year round," said Tim Hawkins, chief marketing and customer officer for Nautilus, Inc., based in Vancouver, Wash.
The fitness equipment lineup from Nautilus contains nine cardiovascular training products, including exercise bikes, treadmills, ellipticals and Bowflex(R) TreadClimber cardio units. It also includes six strength training products including home exercise gyms and free weights. Pearl iZUMi products include samples from its 300-product spring 2006 cycling and fitness apparel and footwear lineup. Among the innovations are Gel Vent cycling gloves, which allow airflow through its already acclaimed gel gloves, and its new Octane Cycling shoes, with a first-ever titanium sole -- the strongest, lightest sole ever introduced.
"Bike dealers are increasingly marketing fitness equipment in addition to cycling gear and apparel," said Rich Mortl, of Mortl's Sports Center, Iron Mountain, Mich. "Nautilus is a major source for my fitness department. I can order strength equipment, bikes, recumbents, elliptical trainers and treadmills from one major supplier that pumps thousands of dollars in advertising. This creates less confusion for my customers when they are trying to make a buying decision. The Pearl iZUMi line also is a great fit for our fitness and bicycle business. Our first order arrives this week."
"Our real growth for the entire business has taken place in the last five years," said Rick Schmitt of The Bike Shack in Dubuque, Iowa, which has been in operation for 25 years. "Being able to take advantage of the large variety of fitness equipment available from Nautilus, and the convenience of having one order department, one sales contact, and one service department, allows us time to focus on what our customers want. Now, with the addition of the entire line of cycling and fitness apparel from Pearl iZUMi, The Nautilus company partnership continues to strengthen our ability to fill customer needs and wants. When we mix that with Nautilus' high quality and new innovations from all of those lines, the future looks very good."
Those interested in fitness or apparel from Nautilus, Inc. can contact their area bicycle dealer, or search for a nearby dealer at www.bowflex.com or www.pearlizumi.com.
