CareMedic Systems and SoftMed Systems Announce Integration Agreement

Posted on: Thursday, 29 September 2005, 18:00 CDT

CareMedic Systems, Inc., and SoftMed Systems today announced that the two companies have agreed to create a standard interface to enable their joint clients to perform medical necessity compliance checking. Under the agreement, SoftMed's ClinTrac(R) suite of products, which provide facilities with clinical data management solutions, will fully integrate with CareMedic's LMRP content, which contains an automated engine to confirm Local Medical Review Policies (LMRP) within CareMedic's ComplyAR(R) product.

SoftMed's ClinTrac(R) APC Pro, a comprehensive management solution that delivers an enterprise view of the ambulatory payment classification coding process, will be the first SoftMed product to interface with CareMedic's LMRP content. Procedural and diagnosis codes entered into APC Pro will be screened automatically by CareMedic. Automatic verification of LMRP will assist facilities in reducing the number of Medicare denials and write-offs in the outpatient setting.

"SoftMed is committed to providing our clients with the best possible healthcare management solutions, and we seek partners who have that same goal," said Don Segal, CEO of SoftMed Systems. "Healthcare facilities need to control the revenue cycle without sacrificing patient care. This interface with CareMedic Systems will help our clients increase productivity, reduce costs and reduce denials. Facilities that choose to utilize APC Pro with the automated LMRP engine will have an easier time complying with Medicare's outpatient policies."

CareMedic's ComplyAR provides point-of-entry Medicare medical necessity outpatient procedure verification of physicians, clinics, and hospital-based providers, and personnel. Using Internet, secure VPN or intranet connectivity to realize the potential of secure universal access across providers, this application is designed to perform the outpatient validation and secure the appropriate documentation necessary to assure a provider's ability to be paid.

"Being able to interface ComplyAR with SoftMed's ClinTrac APC Pro will give us the ability to provide our current and future clients with better enabling technology to further compliment our best in class suite of revenue cycle solutions," said Sheila Schweitzer, Chairperson and CEO of CareMedic Systems, Inc.
