CMSâs Chairman and founder Lawrence Stanley comments, âœAs we continue to recognize the needs of cardiologists, we must also be cognizant of the general publicâs need to access life saving tools, especially for those who are genetically predisposed, or at high risk of experiencing Sudden Cardiac Arrest.â Stanley also notes, âœThis is an exciting time for the organization, especially since weâve been aggressively expanding our sales and marketing channel and have the resources in place to properly promote a product thatâs reliable, easy to use and has the ability to supply valuable clinical data to the end user and physician.â

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States, accounting for an estimated 325,000 deaths each year. SCA is NOT a heart attack â“ a condition technically known as myocardial infarction (MI). SCA may, however, occur in association with a heart attack.

Defibrillation is a common treatment for life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias, ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia. Defibrillation consists of delivering a therapeutic dose of electrical energy to the affected heart with a defibrillator. This depolarizes a critical mass of the heart muscle, terminates the arrhythmia, and allows normal sinus rhythm to be reestablished by the body’s natural pacemaker, in the sinoatrial node of the heart. Defibrillators can be external, transvenous, or implanted, depending on the type of device used or needed. Some external units, known as automated external defibrillators (AEDs), automate the diagnosis of treatable rhythms, meaning that lay responders or bystanders are able to use them successfully with little, or in some cases no training at all.

Defibtech relentlessly pursues one goal: making the best AEDs in the world at affordable prices. Defibtech designs and manufactures defibrillators, which include the Lifeline̢Ң and ReviveR̢Ң families of AEDs. Defibtech̢s products are sold through its network of distribution partners in the United States and around the world. Defibtech is headquartered in Guilford, Conn. All Defibtech AEDs are manufactured in the United States in state-of-the-art ISO 13485:2003 certified facilities.

Cardiac Medical Services, Inc. is a sales and marketing organization for arrhythmia management services designed to assist cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, and electrophysiologists with identifying difficult to diagnose arrhythmias. CMS provides all of the necessary capital equipment to each facility enrolled in its service, eliminating the need for cardiology practices and hospitals of having to invest in the capital equipment and a 24/7 cardiac diagnostic center.
