Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputy Involved Shooting Case, Player et al v. County of Los Angeles Set for Trial
In a Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit, family members allege in the suit that Woodward Wilson Player III was shot and killed July 10, 2009 by Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies. The case is set to commence trial in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The case entitled Player v. County of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. BC 435513 is set to commence trial on September 19, 2011 in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Los Angeles, California.
The lawsuit contends that Mr. Player was shot by Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies as he tried to run away from the deputies after a vehicle pursuit. Court documents state that the family allege that the sheriff deputies shot Mr. Player while he was escaping and was unarmed. The deputy sheriffs, according to court documents, allege that Mr. Player did have a gun and as a result the shooting was justified. Mr. Player’s family members filed suit and seek general and compensatory damages in an amount to be proven at trial for his wrongful death. The family is represented Brian T.
