SeniorCare Emergency Medical Services Deploys Ambulances to Binghamton

September 9, 2011

NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — As emergency crews in Binghamton race to evacuate over 20,000 people, as a result of flooding due to the rising waters of the Susquehanna River brought on by Tropical Storm Lee, Bronx-based SeniorCare Emergency Medical Services prepares to deploy ambulance crews to assist in that effort.

Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan stated, “It’s the worst flooding in the history of Binghamton at least since the flood walls were built in the 1930s and 40s.” Officials are concerned that “the flood walls could give out in the city and we could have a mini-New Orleans.”

Upon receiving word of the dire situation in Binghamton, from the NYS Department of Health, SeniorCare EMS CEO Michael Vatch instructed his staff to dispatch ambulance crews, loaded with supplies to the scene. “We have instructed our EMTs and paramedics to prepare their ambulances for immediate departure and are in the process of scheduling relief teams to take over.” SeniorCare EMS personnel will assist local emergency crews in their efforts to safely evacuate endangered areas. Additionally, SeniorCare EMS’s presence in the area will allow local crews to rapidly respond to other medical emergencies.

SeniorCare EMS is a Bronx-based emergency ambulance company licensed by the New York State Department of Health and servicing the tri-state area. SeniorCare EMS played a vital role in the recent evacuations of many healthcare facilities in New York State as a result of Hurricane Irene and continues to be an industry leader.
