South County Hospital Holds Flu Vaccination Clinics

SOUTH KINGSTOWN - South County Hospital will hold the first in a series of flu vaccination clinics on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at various sites in Washington County.

The first clinics are designed for those in high-risk groups, including: those 65 and older; pregnant women; adults with chronic conditions such as asthma, heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, diabetes or anemia; adults with weakened immune systems caused by cancer or cancer treatment; healthcare workers; residents of nursing homes or long-term care facilities; and anyone living with or caring for a child aged 6-months or younger.

Four clinics on Tuesday, Oct. 11, will be held at:

* South Kingstown Senior Center, 25 St. Dominic Rd., Peace Dale, 9 a.m. to noon.

* Richmond Senior Center, 1168 Main St., Wyoming, 10 a.m. to noon.

* Charlestown Senior Center, 4980B Old Post Rd., Charlestown, 10 a.m. to noon.

* Westerly Senior Center, 39 State St., Westerly, 9 a.m. to noon.

The flu clinics will accept all major insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare-managed senior coverage (Blue Chip for Seniors, and United for Seniors), and all commercial Blue Cross insurance (Healthmate, Classic, etc.).

For anyone without insurance, the vaccination fee is $27.

The hospital plans additional clinics that will be open to everyone.
