7th human fatality of bird flu reported in Indonesia
JAKARTA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- An Indonesian man tested positive of bird flu virus has died recently in Jakarta, bringing the total death toll of the disease to seven in the country.
Slamet Wibowo, 23, died on Sept. 29 only hours after he was treated at the intensive care unit for pneumonia, high fever and respiratory problems, the typical symptoms of bird flu, at the Sulianto Saroso Hospital, hospital spokesman Ilham Patu said Wednesday.
Further laboratory blood test found that Slamet was positive of bird flu, according to the Detikcom online news service.
Slamet was the third bird flu patient who died during treatment at the hospital.
The hospital now has 21 suspected bird flu patients.
