Hanoi, 8 October: Working to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS is the responsibility of each individual, family and society as a whole, stressed the National Assembly's Standing Committee at its session on 6 October.
Debating a draft law on HIV/AIDS prevention, all opinions shared the view that aside from professional preventive measures, social measures are also important in the fight against HIV/AIDS. They underlined interference measures that can make a breakthrough in limiting the disease's spread, such as the distribution of condoms and disposable injection needles, as well as measures to strengthen inter-branch coordination, to encourage the community's participation and to raise people's awareness of fighting HIV/AIDS.
Many deputies spoke of the need to intensify education of the epidemic through the mass media in the context of the current HIV/ AIDS boom. [Passage omitted]
