The Company's NOMOS(R) Radiation Oncology Division to Showcase nomosSTAT(TM) at the 47th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO)
North American Scientific, Inc. (Nasdaq:NASI) announced today that its NOMOS Radiation Oncology division will introduce nomosSTAT(TM), its new serial tomotherapy advanced treatment solution, at the upcoming 47th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) scheduled to be held in Denver, October 16-19, 2005, Booth No. 737.
nomosSTAT integrates the Company's core serial tomotherapy delivery products, MIMiC(R) and AutoCrane(TM), with a single user interface inside and outside the treatment room. This new interface, with network connection to the CORVUS IMRT inverse planning system, streamlines the delivery process, improving efficiency and increasing patient throughput. As the only after-market, add-on serial tomotherapy delivery package offered as an upgrade to an existing linear accelerator (linac), it provides an affordable, turnkey solution for facilities wanting to implement IMRT as part of their cancer treatment arsenal without the need to purchase a costly, IMRT-enabled linac. nomosSTAT is expected to be available for shipment early in 2006, following FDA 510(k) approval.
"nomosSTAT embodies our advanced IMRT technology within an architecture that increases treatment efficiencies and that we believe will support future advances in image guidance and adaptive therapy," said L. Michael Cutrer, President and Chief Executive Officer of North American Scientific. "By utilizing our technology, premier installation and commissioning services, facilities will be able to quickly upgrade their existing equipment and immediately implement state-of-the-art, IMRT-based treatment options for patient care. The nomosSTAT introduction is another example of our continued commitment to providing our customers with affordable solutions to satisfy their emerging needs."
