African American Medical Network's Patient Education Programming Attracts Interest of Big City Hospitals

AFMN, Inc. (Pink Sheets:AFNN) and its subsidiary, African American Medical Network, Inc. ("African American Medical Network" or the "Company") announced today that although the initial marketing efforts of its place-based network had been geared toward reaching patients in individual physicians' waiting rooms, management has noticed an increasing number of subscribing locations in hospital centers and their satellite locations throughout major urban markets.
"In our original business model, we looked to provide African American patients with relevant patient education information at the point of care - in their doctor's waiting room," noted the Company's President Charles Richardson. "However, we're finding that many of the waiting rooms in inner city hospitals and clinics are also perfect venues for informing patients about medical & health issues specific to their interests and needs."
"In New York City, the market which currently has the greatest concentration of our subscribing physicians, African American Medical Network's programming is being carried in the hospital and clinic waiting rooms of Montefiore Medical Center, Brookdale University Hospital, Maimonedes Medical Center and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. Hospitals and affiliated medical centers and clinics in Washington, DC, Atlanta, and Philadelphia have also signed up for our patient education programming," said Richardson.
In June, African American Medical Network began monthly distribution of its educational programming on medical and health issues related to the needs of African American patients to doctors' offices around the country. The DVD healthcare magazines which are updated monthly are geared to create awareness about key diseases and the steps needed to preserve and improve the quality of life. Hosted and voiced by veteran actor Ernie Hudson, programming consists of fast-paced segments four to seven minutes long that cover pertinent healthcare topics.
