Clarian Health Partners Selects MobileAccess Universal In-Building Wireless Network

Posted on: Tuesday, 11 October 2005, 09:00 CDT

MobileAccess Networks, a leading provider of in-building wireless network solutions, announced today that Clarian Health Partners has selected the MobileAccess Universal Wireless Network to extend wireless service coverage to Clarian North Medical Center in Indianapolis. With the MobileAccess solution, Clarian North will be equipped to support a diverse array of wireless medical applications over a unified, cost effective infrastructure, and its medical teams will be empowered to deliver superior patient care by embracing mobile tools and technologies.

The MobileAccess installation will provide wireless coverage for more than 500,000 square feet throughout the Clarian North facility. Once deployed, the Universal Wireless Network will provide high-quality support for multiple wireless services, including cellular, PCS, and Wi-Fi, and enable wireless medical applications, such as hands-free VoWiFi communication services.

According to Rich Johnson, chief information officer for Clarian Health Partners, in-building wireless is a critical element in achieving the facility's core objectives. "Clarian's mission is to improve the health of our patients and community through innovation and excellence in care, education, research and service," said Mr. Johnson. "Clarian has one of the top five transplant centers in the United States, is a leader in pediatric health care with Riley Hospital, and is consistently ranked among the nation's best by U.S. News & World Report. We are committed to delivering patient care second to none and successfully meeting the increasing health care demands of a growing population. For Clarian North, the MobileAccess solution is the platform from which we will implement and manage the wireless technologies to fulfill the mission."

Clarian selected MobileAccess for the Clarian North project from a range of alternative approaches with the assistance of their wireless technology consultant, Stratum Broadband, a subcontractor to Clarian's outsourcing partner, IBM. "The MobileAccess platform is impressive, not only because it supports a full spectrum of wireless services," said Jerry O'Brien, a principal at Stratum Broadband, "but also because the network enables Clarian North to add or change wireless services at any time without disturbing existing services or re-engineering - it's very adaptable."

"MobileAccess has provided in-building wireless networks to many high-profile organizations worldwide, including all of the U.S. Congress, the American Red Cross and Lehman Brothers," said Cathy Zatloukal, president and CEO of MobileAccess. "It is clear from our recent installations at WakeMed and SMDC, and this award from Clarian, that leading hospitals value the MobileAccess Universal Wireless Network for its ability to adapt and scale to meet evolving wireless requirements while extending in-building wireless capabilities to improve the quality of patient care."
