National Association for Home Care and Hospice Announces Strategic Partnership to Help Workers Save on Health Care Services & Products

Posted on: Wednesday, 12 October 2005, 09:01 CDT

UnitedHealth Allies(SM) Discount Program Will Enable Home Care and Hospice Workers to Leverage Discounts on Medical Care, Prescription Drugs and More

Through a joint effort by the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC), Willow Financial Services, LLC- provider of financial services to the home care industry, and HealthAllies(R), Inc., a UnitedHealth Group company, employees of NAHC member companies will soon have access to health care at discounted rates, receiving typical savings of 10 to 50 percent on a variety of health-related services.

The National Association for Home Care (NAHC) is the nation's largest trade association representing the interests and concerns of home care agencies, hospices, home care aide organizations, and medical equipment suppliers. NAHC's members are companies and organizations that provide care in a home and hospice setting.

This new agreement - which is an exclusive offering to NAHC members - gives individuals in the home care and hospice industries the opportunity to save on many health products and services for themselves and their families through the UnitedHealth Allies(SM) discount program.

Participants in this program can typically save 10 to 50 percent on medical care, prescription drugs, vision and dental care, and many other health and wellness services from more than 300,000 participating health care professionals nationwide. NAHC members locate participating providers online or via a Customer Care Center and present their UnitedHealth Allies membership card for point-of-purchase savings.

"The employees of our member companies provide care for others," stated Val Halamandaris, NAHC President, "but for many of these home care and hospice workers, their own access to health care may be limited. By teaming with HealthAllies, NAHC enables our members to make a valuable employee benefit available to their employees at little or no cost to the company."

The arrangement was made possible by Willow Financial Services, LLC, which offers a variety of financial services to NAHC member companies. Richard A. Onorato, President of Willow Financial Services, explained that the company's relationship with NAHC is based on Willow's commitment to promoting the welfare of (SM)all business owners. "The message we've been getting from association members is that companies want to do something to help employees who may not have access to traditional health benefits. By bringing HealthAllies to the table, we are offering our NAHC customers a cost-effective way to address their employees' health care needs, while furthering their own hiring and retention goals."

The new relationship will officially be launched at NAHC's 24th Annual Meeting, to be held in Seattle from October 23-26, 2005. Cathy Cather, HealthAllies' Senior Vice President for Business Development, will be speaking at the conference on ways for Association member companies to offer affordable health care to their employees and on the business opportunities for participating in new, affordable health care programs.
