flexSCAN Inc. (OTCBB:FXSC), located in Mission Viejo, offers a unique type of employee benefit that brings disease screening services right to the workplace.
Dubbed "myWellness360," the program functions like a traditional health benefit but offers the type of services that can detect the leading causes of premature death from aneurysms, certain cancers, heart attack, and stroke. Employees who enroll into the program have access to advanced medical technology such as CT scanning (for screening of the heart, lungs, and colon) and ultrasound scanning (for screening of carotid and abdominal arteries).
The program also offers EKG (for cardio health benchmarking), a bone density test, full cholesterol panel, blood pressure check, and measurement of other vitals, and records skin anomalies for tracking and follow-up. All test results including the scans from CT and ultrasound are stored in a personal electronic medical file on a secure Web site where clients also have access to an interactive online nutrition planner and fitness trainer.
One Source Distributors Inc., based in Oceanside, Calif., has had employees enrolled in the program for almost three years. According to the company's Director of Human Resources Jan Pruett, myWellness360 has worked very well for her company. "One of our employees had the scan last year and caught something early, so we're all pretty excited. This year we had enough people so they're bringing the equipment to our site to do all the tests," she said.
According to Pruett, the program offers a "win-win" proposition for employee and employer. "The membership fee is charged on pre-tax income to the employee and there's no cost to the employer," she said. "Employees get about a 40 percent reduction in cost for the services, but it's more like a 60 percent reduction when you include the tax benefit. And the employer gets the credit for adding a great 'feel good' benefit."
Among long-term myWellness360 clients are the San Diego Municipal Employees Association, the San Diego Teachers Fringe Benefits Consortium, Guess? Jeans, and other businesses located in San Diego, Imperial, and Orange Counties. The company currently services an enrollment pool of more than 100,000 employees in Southern California.

Its chief brand, myWellness360(TM), is a stand-alone corporate wellness program that features life-saving disease screening services and pricing that makes it affordable for most employees.
