Scott & White Health Plan Ranks Best in Texas; U.S. News and World Report Names America's Top Plans

Scott & White Health Plan is the best health plan in Texas, according to a ranking published in the current issue of U.S. News and World Report.

In "America's Best Health Plans 2005," the magazine used data provided by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The report compares more than 260 commercial health plans covering more than 61 million people nationwide. The Scott & White Health Plan was the highest ranked commercial plan in Texas, listed at No. 56 out of more than 260 across the country.

Additional ranking by the news magazine showed Scott & White Health Plan in the top fifteen in the country for Medicare plans. At No. 14 in the nation it was again the highest ranked in the state.

"A person would have to travel to Denver or North Carolina to find a plan ranked as high as we are," said Scott & White Health Plan Executive Director Allan Einboden. "It is great to see that a strong regional player can receive this type of national recognition in the marketplace."

The national review scored health plans based on access to care, overall member satisfaction, prevention and treatment. Scott & White Health Plan scored 88.6 out of 100 possible points. The Scott & White plan also earned four out of five stars in many areas, including women's reproductive health, treatment for heart disease and child and adult immunizations.
