Ethiopian State to Vaccinate 3.7 Million Children Against Polio

Bahir Dar, 14 October: Preparations are finalized to vaccinate over 3.7 million children against polio in the Amhara [Regional] State in the First Round Polio Vaccination Campaign this year, the regional health bureau said.
The Public Relations expert with the bureau, Getachew Tiruneh, told WIC [Walta Information Centre] today that over 13.6m birr has been earmarked for the execution of the door-to-door vaccination campaign to be undertaken from 28 to 31 October 2005.
He said 3,711,000 children under the age of five in 11 zones and 113 woredas [districts] of the state would be inoculated by involving 12,571 people.
