THE recent opening of California Fitness health club at Menara Standard

Chartered proved a star-studded affair with a number of celebrities

gracing the event.

Among them were Ferhad, Soong Ai Ling, Edry of KRU, Rachel Looi, Alison

Tay, Devakhi Nathan, Wong Chui Ling, Rachel Tan, Wong Kok Keong, Tony

Eusoff and Carmen Soo.

Many of them are California Fitness' fitness ambassadors and they left

their signature hand print on the 'California Fitness Wall Of Fame' which

which is a permanent feature at the club.

The event kicked off in grand Hollywood style with 20 stars parading in

vintage US convertibles.

The celebrities made their way across the red carpet and were greeted

by Marion Caunter (of 8TV Quickie fame) the emcee.

The event also featured a hip-hop dance/exercise by the famous

California Fitness Group X Team and a 'Celebrity Fitness Commitment Game'

where some stars performed physical routines to demonstrate their fitness.

Sprawled on the ground floor of the Menara Standard Chartered building,

perched along Jalan Sultan Ismail, the 24-hour California Fitness outlet

is the second to be opened in Malaysia. The first was at Mid Valley

Megamall.

California Fitness president Steve Clinefelter said Malaysia is an

exciting market for California Fitness and he has great plans for the

future here.

"We're intensifying our efforts in the region and plan to bring our

total of California Fitness Clubs in Asia to 50 in the next five years.

"We want people to experience the energy and fun that comes from

exercise and make fitness a way of life," he said.

He is also thrilled by the number of celebrities who have joined the

club and wants to encourage more Malaysians to adopt a healthier and more

active lifestyle.

The California Fitness Club at Menara Standard Chartered features a

wide range of facilities including cardio machines, resistance equipment,

a complete range of free weights and separate steam and sauna sections

for men and women.

It's also the first fitness to be equipped with the Kinesis machine - a

most advanced piece of exercise equipment.

The club also offers exercise classes daily from 7am-10pm conducted by

internationally certified personal trainers.
