African American Medical Network Partners With Florida Physician Networks to Bring Needed Health Education to African American Patients

Posted on: Monday, 17 October 2005, 09:00 CDT

AFMN, Inc. (Pink Sheets: AFNN) and its subsidiary, African American Medical Network, Inc. ("African American Medical Network" or the "Company") recently entered into relationships with Phytrust and Florida NetPass, two physician networks operating primarily in Florida's Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Under this arrangement, the Company has already provided its monthly programming and TV/DVD systems to more than 100 physician offices that serve large numbers of minority patients.

"Strategically this is in line with our plans to impact the patient's waiting room experience in a meaningful way," commented the Company's President Charles Richardson. "Our programming is engaging and easy to understand and contains health empowerment messages geared to improve the wellness and quality of life of our audience. Moreover, it accommodates Florida's multi-ethnic patient base by providing captioning in Spanish and French."

Nelson L. Adams, MD, President of Phytrust of Florida agrees, "This culturally appropriate educational program is perfect for the waiting room. Our doctors and patients think it's great."

According to Richardson, "We are gearing up for rapid growth in our subscriber base due to the many inquiries and requests we are receiving from physician networks and health maintenance organizations in several major markets. Our partnering with organizations such as these tracks with our basic subscription-building game plan of being a value-added service to doctors who recognize that a better informed patient is more compliant and more likely to follow through on recommended treatment regimes."

The Company provides educational programming about medical and health issues related to the needs of African American patients. In June, African American Medical Network began monthly distribution of its educational programming on medical and health issues to hospitals, clinics, and doctors' offices around the country. The monthly updated DVD magazines are geared to create awareness about key diseases and the steps needed to preserve and improve the quality of life. Hosted and voiced by veteran actor Ernie Hudson, programming consists of fast-paced segments four to seven minutes long that cover pertinent healthcare topics.
