Fall River Resident Dies From West Nile Virus

An 80-year-old Fall River woman has died from West Nile virus, becoming the first Bay State resident to succumb to the mosquito- borne disease since 2003, public health officials said.
The unidentified woman was the sixth person to contract the disease this year, but the only one to die from it.
Public health officials said the risk of contracting the disease this late in the year is extremely low.
