Today at the DMAA (Disease Management Association of America) Leadership Forum, Xilas Medical, Inc. announced a new economic model that forecasts a savings of $8.0 million per year per every 10,000 Type 2 diabetic patients under management. Known as X-EBMS(TM) (Xilas Evidence Based Management System), the model is supported by clinical evidence which demonstrates a significant reduction in lower extremity ulceration in people with diabetes and an impressive patient compliance rate.
Xilas Medical offers Disease Management organizations the opportunity to develop new programs, processes, and delivery of innovative solutions for people with Diabetes that are likely to experience lower extremity complications. According to Xilas CEO, Don Lawson, Xilas' Disease Management protocols for eliminating complications associated with the diabetic foot are built around evidence-based medicine, resulting from seven completed NIH (National Institute of Health) sponsored clinical trials completed by the Company.
"Xilas products have been adapted and are now being used in a variety of Medicare health support projects that substantiate our model," commented Lawson. "Our evidence-based management system can help not only DM (Disease Management) organizations cost-justify deploying initial trials, but also bring measurable results to the bottom line. While this model is focused on Xilas' product line and can be incorporated into existing Diabetes programs, we hope that the industry will be able to replicate and apply it to other types of diseases."
At the DMAA Forum, Xilas is exhibiting its VPT Meter(R), GlideSoft(R) Insole, and TempTouch(R) infrared temperature device, which when integrated into a mix of healthcare services, can increase clinical outcomes, beneficiary satisfaction, and meet or exceed clients' spending targets for the area of Diabetes.
Editor Note:
Xilas will be exhibiting in booth number 407 at the DMAA Leadership Forum in San Diego, October 16-18, 2005.
