Bernadette Mangan Named Chief Executive Officer of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

Tenet's Central Northeast-Southern States Region today announced that Bernadette M. Mangan has been named chief executive officer at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children effective December 12, 2005.

Mangan brings more than 20 years of experience in health care management to the position and nearly 15 years in nursing and direct patient care. Most recently, she was chief operating officer and senior vice president for Mercy Hospital of Philadelphia, a 266-bed acute care hospital in Philadelphia. Previously, she was president and chief executive officer of Parkview Hospital in Philadelphia and in the same position at Zurbrugg Hospital in Riverside, N.J. She also served as vice president of professional services at a regional level for Zurbrugg Memorial Hospitals.

"Bernadette brings a great deal of valuable health care experience to this position," said Stephen E. Corbeil, senior vice president of operations for the Tenet Central Northeast-Southern States Region. "She began her nursing career in pediatrics, so she is returning to her professional roots. Her depth of experience in health care management and direct patient care will be invaluable assets at St. Christopher's."

Mangan earned her master's of business administration at LaSalle University in Philadelphia and a bachelor of science degree from Wilmington College in New Castle, Del. She also received her registered nursing degree from Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Lansdowne.

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is a 161-bed pediatric hospital located at Erie Avenue at Front Street in Philadelphia. The hospital provides a wide range of pediatric medical and surgical specialties through its affiliation with Drexel University College of Medicine.
