DETROIT, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- A toolkit that provides Michigan health care professionals with information to assist domestic violence victims has won national recognition in the first annual Healthcare Toolkits contest sponsored by the Healthcare Intelligence Network.
The toolkit was developed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network in partnership with the Michigan Nurses Association, Michigan Osteopathic Association, Michigan State Medical Society and the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. It provides information to make it easier for health care professionals to help those affected by domestic violence to get emotional, practical and legal help, and also to generate documentation that may be valuable to both patient and physician. Originally available only in English, the kit was later produced in Arabic and Spanish language versions plus a version specifically geared toward the dental community.
The Domestic Violence Toolkit placed third among nearly 60 print, Web- based and multimedia health care toolkits submitted by health plans, hospitals and employers nationwide. For a look at the top three winning entries, visit http://www.hin.com/contests/toolkit_winners.html .
Michigan health care professionals interested in receiving a copy of the toolkit should fax a "Request for Domestic Violence Toolkit" along with a mailing address to 248-448-8055.
