Genentech (San Francisco, USA), biotechnology company, gives a chance for cure to women suffering from breast cancer thanks to its drug Herceptin. The results of several scientific studies that were published in 4Q 2005 prove that Herceptin lowers the risk of recurrence to 50% in combination with chemotherapy
. Herceptin has been used to treat developed stages of breast cancer for several years. However, the costs on the treatment are very high, coming to USD 48,000/y.
