North American Health Plans Partners With Subimo to Offer Reliable Online Healthcare Information to Member Health Plans

Posted on: Thursday, 27 October 2005, 09:00 CDT

Online tools will allow members to research and compare physicians, conditions, treatment costs and coverage options during open enrollment

North American Health Plans, one of the nation's largest third party administrators, today announced the launch of a new set of online health management tools that allow members to view treatment options and cost estimates for a variety of health conditions while comparing hospitals, physicians and various coverage plans. Through a strategic partnership with Subimo, LLC., of Chicago, North American Health Plans will be making these tools available to all members of their self-funded, managed care and consumer directed health plans.

North American Health Plans' third-party members will have access to Subimo's comprehensive suite of decision-making tools, including the Healthcare Advisor(TM) platform. This portal enables consumers to easily compare hospitals, choose a physician, learn about treatment costs and options, and budget for existing and future healthcare needs. Users can interactively research more than 30 conditions and 90 procedures and make realistic and economical decisions about hospitals, doctors and treatment options based on the most relevant healthcare information in the industry.

"As the leading administrator of self-funded traditional and consumer-directed health plans for mid-sized companies, we continually strive to provide the most innovative and high-quality healthcare services in the market," said Ronald K. Zoeller, president and chief executive officer of North American Health Plans. "Reliable healthcare information is a fundamental aspect of our services, and through our partnership with Subimo, we are able to arm our members with comprehensive healthcare information to make informed decisions."

"Subimo is proud to be part of North American Health Plans' ongoing focus and commitment to provide relevant information on quality and cost to the members of its many health plans," said Ann Mond Johnson, CEO of Subimo. "As consumers assume more responsibility for their own healthcare, and the related costs, they need tools and information to make better-informed decisions for their families. Simply, when consumers have more information, they can make wiser health care choices."

North American Health Plans' third-party members will also have access to Subimo's Coverage Advisor(TM), a tool that helps individuals and their families to project health care service needs. Consumers can determine whether funding a personal care account - whether an HRA or an HSA - would be sufficient to cover anticipated use. The Coverage Advisor provides cost estimates and helps users easily compare various insurance coverage options.
