Oct. 29--EDMOND -- With fresh sheets on the bed, cable TV and now room service, Edmond Medical Center is becoming the hotel of local hospitals.
Patients at the hospital will now be able to order from a menu between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., choosing foods that don't interfere with the treatment, said John Wright, food and nutritional services director.
When patients are checked in, nurses determine if room service is appropriate and if a special diet is needed, according to a news release from the hospital. Patients order from a menu in their rooms and a clerk takes the order, tailoring it to the medical needs of the patient.
Besides coming when the patient asks, the food also will be fresher and cooked to specifications, Wright said.
