Heart Death Rate is Down

THE number of Scots dying from heart disease has dropped by seven per cent from last year.

Latest figures show a fall in the death rate from 150.5 to 139.4 per 100,000people,while the number diagnosed with coronary heart disease is down five per cent.

Experts say Scotland is on track to meet its target of reducing heart disease deaths by 60 per cent between 1995 and 2010
