Confirma Signs Agreement With Amerinet

Posted on: Tuesday, 1 November 2005, 15:02 CST

Confirma, Inc., the market leader in computer-aided-detection (CAD) for MRI, today announced a three-year agreement with a leading health care industry group purchasing organization, Amerinet. The agreement adds CADstream(TM) for MRI to Amerinet's extensive CAD portfolio. Amerinet's national network of companies include Amerinet Central, Intermountain Health Care and Vector. The agreement became effective October 1, 2005 and extends through September 30, 2008.

"We're pleased to add CADstream to our list of innovative and effective products available to our health care provider members," said Tom Emmerson, RT(R), senior contract manager, Amerinet. "CADstream meets all of our criteria as a comprehensive and efficient CAD system for breast MRI."

"We are honored that Amerinet has chosen Confirma as a vendor to its members," Wayne Wager, president and CEO, Confirma. "CADstream met the rigorous evaluations required by Amerinet to be offered to members. Our agreement with Amerinet further validates our belief that CADstream is being met with widespread acceptance and is truly assisting to develop more standardized, high performance breast MRI programs worldwide."

CADstream enhances the efficiency and workflow of MRI studies by automating data analysis, improving image management and correcting for patient movement, which assists radiologists in the interpretation, standardization and reporting of these data-intensive studies. CADstream's core automated features include image registration, multiplanar reformatting, subtractions, angiogenesis maps, curves, maximum intensity projections (MIPs), volume summaries and SureLoc(TM) for real-time interventional guidance. CADstream also incorporates advanced features, including a streamlined portfolio for more comprehensive treatment planning -- incorporating the BI-RADS(R) Atlas for lesion classification -- and a multimodality ready configuration, offering users the ability to display and compare mammography, ultrasound and breast MRI studies.

The latest version of CADstream includes an expanded version of SureLoc, an efficient way to calculate coordinates for interventional guidance. SureLoc now reports needle position for both grid and pillar methods in real time (insertion location, depth and needle angle) and displays images and needle position in the patient's orientation. This feature is compatible with interventional breast coils and with vacuum-assisted biopsy systems, and is available on any networked PC for access at any location.
