Vaccine Shortage Impacts Publix Flu Shot Program
Posted on: Tuesday, 1 November 2005, 18:01 CST
Due to a shortage in flu vaccine, flu shot clinics scheduled at Publix locations will be cancelled after Sunday, Nov. 6. Clinics scheduled through the remainder of this week may have a limited number of flu shots available.
"We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers, but the overwhelming demand and reduced vaccine production by one of the nation's major vaccine manufacturers has forced us to end our program early," said Media and Community Relations Director Maria Brous.
Individuals should direct flu and vaccine questions to their primary care physician or contact local and state health authorities for additional information.
Publix is owned and operated by its 132,000 employees, with 2004 sales of $18.6 billion. Currently Publix has 866 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. The company has been named one of Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For in America" for eight consecutive years. In addition, for the third year in a row, Publix Super Markets Inc. has been named the No. 1 supermarket pharmacy in customer satisfaction in the nation by Wilson Health Information, a leading consumer research firm.
