OTTAWA (CP) - Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh says he'll continue talks with the NDP on medicare despite feeling threatened by warnings of an imminent election.
Dosanjh met with the New Democrat's health critic, Jean Crowder, and they spoke about health care issues, including so-called "double-dipping" by doctors and the role of private health clinics.
Dosanjh says the meeting was productive, but he prefaced that by saying he didn't like being threatened.
NDP Leader Jack Layton has hinted that he'll join with the Conservatives and Bloc Quebecois to topple Paul Martin's minority Liberal government unless the prime minister agrees to a deal to reform health care.
Both sides plan to meet again Thursday to talk about what Dosanjh describes as the more complex issues of jurisdiction over medicare.
