Vanessa C. L. Chang Elected to Blue Shield of California Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Investment consultant and accounting executive Vanessa C. L. Chang has been elected to the Blue Shield of California board of directors. Chang chairs the audit committees for three equity mutual funds of the American Funds family with total assets of more than $75 billion.
Her election brings the Blue Shield board to 12 members. She will serve on Blue Shield's Compensation, Audit, and Finance and Investment Committees.

Throughout her career, Chang has held leadership positions in corporate finance and financial consulting. In 21 years at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, she fulfilled a variety of management assignments, including partner in charge of corporate finance. She also served as senior vice president at Secured Capital Corporation, president & CEO of Resolveitnow.com, and principal of EL & EL Investments, all based in Los Angeles.
Chang, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, is active with the Independent Directors Council, affiliated with the Investment Company Institute. She is a trustee of Claremont Graduate University and chairs their Audit Committee. She is a member of the board of directors of Forest Lawn Memorial Parks Association and serves on their investment, audit and risk management committees.
Chang holds a degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is a certified public accountant.
