LADYWOOD: Heart Death Figures 'High

MORE than a third of all deaths in Lozells and east Handsworth are caused by diseases of the circulatory system such as heart disease and stroke.
Compared to the rest of Birmingham these figures are high, a ward meeting was told.
But the area has a low rate of deaths from the four most common deadly cancers - lung, breast, colon and prostate.
The ward averaged about 92 deaths each year, according to the latest figures, with two thirds occurring over the age of 65. Deaths between the age of one and 25 were relatively rare
