Maine Medical Center Drives Increased Hospital Performance With SuccessFactors

Prior to implementing SuccessFactors, Maine Medical Center had completed the first phase of overhauling an antiquated, manual performance review process. The organization had spent two years on Phase 1 planning and preparation, identifying and defining over 32,000 competencies for over 680 different staff positions. The IT group at Maine Medical then developed a repository to hold this data as well as a newly developed review form. A substantial amount of man hours were spent loading data into the repository and the evaluation team felt it imperative that this data be able to be easily loaded into the chosen technology solution without having to separately re-input the repository of information. Maine Medical also required technology that could map to their current position and mimic the exact look and feel of the newly revised review form. SuccessFactors was the only performance management vendor who could meet these technology requirements.

While the organization was striving to drive overall hospital performance and build sustainable action plans in support of desired standards, the implementation team recognized that the technology needed to be smart and simple to use for people that had numerous responsibilities to attend to throughout their day; particularly clinical personnel responsible for sick patients. Maine Medical's evaluation team identified SuccessFactors' technology as intuitive and easy to use, requiring only a minimal amount of training.
