Resolution Health's Analytic-Based, Personalized Patient and Physician Communications Boost Compliance With Evidence-Based Guidelines

Posted on: Tuesday, 8 November 2005, 12:00 CST

Alan Wright, MD, MPH, Vice President, Resolution Health, Inc. presents at World Congress, "Evidence-Based Medicine for Health Plans," December 1, 2005, Orlando, Florida

The value and return-on-investment (ROI) of communications that deliver condition-specific, actionable information to both patients and their physicians will be the focus of a presentation by Alan T. Wright, M.D., M.P.H., Vice President of Product Strategy and Business Development, Resolution Health, Inc. (RHI) at the upcoming "Evidence-Based Medicine for Health Plans," December 1, 2005, 12:30 pm, Sheraton Safari Hotel, Orlando, Florida, sponsored by the World Research Group (www.worldrg.com).

"Changes in patient behavior or treatment often require incentive and reinforcement to achieve and sustain compliance. At the same time, today's physicians need proven tools to help their patients accept behavior modifications and comply with new therapy regimens," asserts Dr. Wright, who will discuss Direct-to-Member (DTM) and Direct-to-Physician (DTP) communications programs, along with documented ROI metrics from several RHI pilot programs. "These targeted, personalized healthcare communications drive behavioral change, promote better decision-making, and foster adherence to evidence-based guidelines."

Citing case examples, Dr. Wright will demonstrate how sophisticated analytics can identity patient- and condition-specific information linked to best clinical practices as the proactive platform for personalized communications that not only offer credible healthcare data to plan members and their physicians, but also provide needed guidance to prompt change and encourage ongoing compliance.

Also included in Dr. Wright's presentation will be results of a pilot study undertaken by RHI and UniCare (a division of Wellpoint) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Group Insurance Commission (GIC), which Substantiate the impact of targeted, personalized healthcare communications. The findings document that RHI's DTM communication program reduced both medical and pharmaceutical costs and improved quality of patient care, with an ROI of 2.4 to 1.

"Armed with information that is pertinent to their own health status and insurance benefits, consumers - together with their physicians - can make better care purchasing decisions that will improve their health outcomes, reduce costs, and increase patient satisfaction," concludes Dr. Wright.
