Draeger Medical, Inc. Awarded MedAssets Supply Chain Systems Contract to Offer Anesthesia Devices and Warming Therapies to 2,200 U.S. Acute Care Facilities

Posted on: Wednesday, 9 November 2005, 15:01 CST

Draeger Medical, Inc., a leading provider of Acute Point of Care medical equipment, has signed a three-year agreement with MedAssets Supply Chain Systems, one of the largest group purchasing and supply chain management companies in the U.S. The agreement offers anesthesia, warming and phototherapy devices to 2,200 acute care facilities and hospitals across the country.

"Our goal is to offer optimum care and safety for patients, and we are pleased that MedAssets has recognized the quality and innovation of our products," said Bob Tice, president, North American region, Draeger Medical, Inc. "We look forward to a long relationship with MedAssets and are eager to offer our anesthesia devices and warming therapies to their customers."

The agreement between Draeger Medical, Inc. and MedAssets Supply Chain Systems includes six models of anesthesia devices: Narkomed 6400(R), Narkomed GS(R), Fabius Tiro(R), Fabius GS(R), Narkomed MRI-2(R) and Apollo(TM). Warming therapies include all Draeger Air-Shields(R) devices as well as the Draeger Caleo Incubator, Babytherm Warmers and PT-4000 Phototherapy.

"Draeger Medical provides high-quality products and services at a reasonable cost to our customers, allowing these facilities to manage budgets more effectively," said Rand Ballard, president of MedAssets Supply Chain and Business Services Group. "By creating a relationship with Draeger, our hospitals and health systems have access to products that improve patient care and patient safety."

The anesthesia systems combine the latest ventilation and gas delivery technologies with an ergonomic and compact design. The Apollo is one of many work-flow-oriented workstations providing assistance through therapy and offers an open-platform architecture, enabling it to be entirely integrated into a hospital's existing workflow. The resulting management resource improves customers' asset management by saving them investment and maintenance costs. All of the company's perioperative products can utilize the ability and the functionality of the Draeger Infinity(R) patient monitoring range.

Among the latest generation of warming systems, BabyTherm sets new standards in open care - not only in providing neonates with a unique thermal environment, but also in ensuring the best possible care.
