With support from the Blue Shield of California Foundation, New America is convening a forum to provide an overview of the health care proposals that likely will be considered in the next session of the California State Legislature. All major players in the health care debate will be represented, including:

-- The Governor, through Kim Belshe, Secretary of the California

Health and Human Services Agency

-- The Legislature, through Assembly Members Chan, Richman, and

Sen. Runner

-- Employers, through Small Business California

-- Employees, through California Labor Federation

-- Providers, through the California Hospital Association and the

California Medical Association

Shield of California Foundation, The Insure the Uninsured

Project and the Children's Partnership WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. WHERE: California State Association of Counties Conference Center 1020 11th St., 2nd floor (between J and K streets) WHY: Health care will be a legislative priority in 2006. This forum is designed to be a venue where those involved in health care policy can discuss their reform proposals and debate the merits of each. This is a rare opportunity for reporters to get an introduction to the plans being developed for next year, as well as an opportunity to meet and talk with those who will be key players in the ongoing debate.
