AETNA, Reston Hospital Center Sign Contract

Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today that it has reached agreement on a multi-year contract renewal with HCA hospitals, Reston Hospital Center and Northern Virginia Community Hospital, extending its long-term relationship with the Northern Virginia facilities.

“Aetna has enjoyed a positive, productive arrangement with Reston Hospital Center for several years,” said Bill Stout, head of network operations for Aetna in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. “The hospital has been a significant part of our Northern Virginia network, and we’re very happy to announce that our relationship will continue.”

Under the contract, members of Aetna’s HMO-based and PPO-based plans in the area may receive covered in-patient and out-patient services, at in-network rates, from Reston Hospital Center and Northern Virginia Community Hospital.

Reston Hospital Center is a 187-bed community hospital offering medical, surgical and obstetrical inpatient services as well as ambulatory surgery and ancillary outpatient services. Northern Virginia Community Hospital is located in Arlington, Va. The hospitals and sister facilities, Dominion Hospital, Fairfax Surgical Center, Reston Surgery Center and the proposed Broadlands Regional Hospital, are affiliates of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA, the country’s largest health care company.
