Charity – Kids Raise Money to Boost Down Awareness — Made Key Chains, Bracelets, Posters, Sold Candy, Ribbons
By Special to My Life
In honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October, students at Olive Branch Elementary with Down Syndrome made key chains, bracelets and posters to help raise money for the Down Syndrome Association of the Mid-South. They also sold sports bottles, candy and ribbons.
Gina Tindall, special education teacher at Olive Branch Elementary, and her assistants helped the students raise $350 for the organization. The goal of this project was to raise more awareness of Down syndrome and to generate more involvement for the local DSAM organization.
Tindall and her assistants thank OBE’s administration for being supportive of this cause and the DSAM for its hard work in making Down Syndrome awareness successful. There are about 30 students with Down syndrome in DeSoto County Schools and around 10 of those attend Olive Branch Schools.
