CytoDyn Picks San Francisco for Next Trial

November 28, 2005

CytoDyn, Inc. (OTCBB:CYDY) has tapped Jacob P. Lalezari, MD at Quest Clinical Research in San Francisco, California, as Principal Investigator for the next study of Cytolin(R), a targeted immune therapy for HIV/AIDS, pending FDA approval. Quest Clinical Research has conducted clinical trials for Merck, Bayer, Pfizer, and Roche, among others.

Dr. Lalezari is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of California at San Francisco. Previously, he served as Co-Director of the HIV Clinical Research Center at Mt. Zion Medical Center also at the University of California in San Francisco. He is an author of numerous papers on HIV/AIDS, and other infectious diseases, published in the major peer-review journals, such as the New England Journal of Medicine and Annals of Internal Medicine.

“Cytolin(R) is the first immune therapy I’ve seen that has produced a significant reduction in viral burden in preliminary clinical trials,” according to Dr. Lalezari. “Previous attempts to develop an immune therapy for HIV disease have failed in this regard, leaving the treating physician without an immune-based drug for treating HIV/AIDS. I became interested in this project because of its potential for making a new class of drugs available for those living with AIDS,” Dr. Lalezari added.

“We are gratified by the interest of a Principal Investigator with the clinical research experience of Dr. Lalezari, and we look forward to working with him,” said Allen D. Allen, CEO of CytoDyn.
