McKinley Medical Will Supply Disposable Post-Operative Pain Control Pumps to MAGNET-Affiliated Healthcare Providers Throughout the U.S. for Three Years
In a contract signed with McKinley Medical, MAGNET Inc. (Mid-Atlantic Group Network of Shared Services Inc.) has selected McKinley Medical to supply disposable post-operative pain control pumps to MAGNET-affiliated healthcare providers throughout the United States.
The three-year group purchasing organization (GPO) agreement makes the ACCUFUSER(R) Post-Op Pain Control Pump and AutoMed(R) Ambulatory Infusion Pump from McKinley Medical easily available to MAGNET members for managing patients' pain, both intra-operatively and post-operatively. These disposable pumps can be used to deliver continuous anesthetic nerve block during surgery and also continuous regional analgesia, with or without patient-controlled bolus dosing, during the recovery period after surgery.
MAGNET-affiliated providers that perform inpatient and outpatient surgery total more than 750 acute care hospitals, clinics and physician practices in 20 states. MAGNET's nationwide network also includes nearly 1,400 long-term care facilities, assisted living centers and allied healthcare providers.
"We've selected McKinley Medical as our provider of post-op pain control pumps because their technology and customer service provide the best overall fit to the requirements of our members for a comprehensive pain management program," said Derwood B. Dunbar Jr., president and CEO of MAGNET Inc. "The therapeutic flexibility, ease of use and affordability of the ACCUFUSER and AutoMed pumps are the best we've found in the industry."
"We look forward to a very valuable partnership with MAGNET," said Randy Hoffman, president of McKinley Medical. "This agreement validates our approach of providing comprehensive solutions to meet post-operative pain management applications, with features efficacious to patients and at prices affordable for the healthcare provider. McKinley Medical is fast becoming one of the leading pain management companies - one of the very few, in fact, to offer both disposable mechanical and electronic infusion systems."
The ACCUFUSER(R) Post-Op Pain Control Pump is a portable, disposable non-electronic drug delivery device that provides continuous basal infusion of local anesthetic through a special catheter to the site of the surgery. If wearing the ACCUFUSER pump for continuing pain control after surgery, patients can use the unique bolus button feature to receive additional doses of non-narcotic medication to enhance their comfort. A wide range of ACCUFUSER pump models provides clinicians the flexibility to choose a basal rate and bolus dose option that meets their patients' needs. The non-latex ACCUFUSER pump is safe, simple and lightweight so patients can use it anywhere they go following general, orthopedic, aesthetic/plastic and other surgical procedures.
The AutoMed(R) Ambulatory Infusion Pump line delivers continuous intraoperative nerve block or post-operative regional analgesia. AutoMed(R) pumps are disposable electronic devices with adjustable basal infusion rate and patient-controlled bolus dosing. They are easy to program, and for therapeutic flexibility, they work with various sizes of medication containers. AutoMed(R) pumps provide a cost-effective, small-sized and easy-to-use electronic option for use in hospitals, physician offices or patients' homes.
