Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc. And Allegany Franciscan Foundation Grant $150,000 to Promote Cultural Competency

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc. (PHF) and Allegany Franciscan Foundation, Inc. (Allegany) recently announced joint initiative grants to local healthcare organizations. These awards, directed toward the removal of cultural barriers to healthcare for indigent and underserved populations, were given to: Glades Initiative, Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies, NOAH, Inc., PB Atlantic University School of Pharmacy, and Sickle Cell Foundation of PB County.

Says PHF President Suzette Wexner, "Palm Healthcare Foundation joins the Allegany Franciscan Foundation again this year to continue our efforts to make it easier for less fortunate citizens to receive much-needed healthcare on a timely and ongoing basis."
Palm Beach Atlantic University School of Pharmacy will use the grant for continued support of its "Primary Care to the Indigent" pharmacotherapy clinic at the Gregory School of Pharmacy.
The Glades Initiative will train Medical Interpreters and Bilingual Providers to enhance communication between medical providers and non English speaking patients.
NOAH, Inc. and Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies are collaborating on a Male Prenatal Advocacy Program.
The Sickle Cell Foundation of PB County, Inc. will continue its Haitian Outreach Project, designed to inform and educate the Haitian community about sickle cell disease through the use of a Haitian Educator. This program endeavors to remove language barriers, in order to identify persons with sickle cell disease or trait and to meet their ongoing health related needs.
