American Public Health Association’s Annual Meeting Kicks Off Sunday, Dec. 11th at Pennsylvania Convention Center

Special Experts Panel: Frontline Accounts of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita

WHAT: On Sunday, Dec. 11, the nation’s largest meeting of public health professionals kicks off with speeches from U.S. Senator John Kerry, Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, former Philadelphia health commissioner Walter Tsou and public health experts sharing frontline accounts of the 2005 hurricanes.

Speakers include:

U.S. Sen. John Kerry;

Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, chair of the National Governors Association and one of “America’s 5 Best Governors” (Time Magazine, Nov. 2005);

Georges C. Benjamin, MD, FACP, executive director, American Public Health Association;

Walter Tsou, MD, MPH, president, American Public Health Association;

Kevin Stephens, MD, JD, director, New Orleans Health Department;

Jimmy Guidry, MD, state health officer and medical director, Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals;

Maureen Lichtveld, MD, MPH, chair of the Department of Environmental and Health Sciences, Tulane University; and
