UPDATE: All people under bird flu medical observation released in S.China
NANNING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Over 100 people who had close contact with bird-flu infected patients in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous, have been released from medical observation, the local health department reported here Wednesday.
Currently, the highly pathogenic strain of bird flu known as H5N1 has been prevented further transmitting among humans, said Tan Mingjie, deputy head of the regional health bureau Wednesday.
On Nov. 23, a 10-year-old girl student surnamed Tang from Baiyangping Village of Liangshui Township, Ziyuan County, fell ill with fever and pneumonia. She tested positive for the H5N1 virus by the China Disease Prevention and Control Center (CDC).
Now she is undergoing sedulous treatment and is making a quick recovery.
The 100-plus patients in the region are in good condition and have been dismissed from medical observation, said Tan in an interview with Xinhua.
So far, China has reported approximately 30 outbreaks of bird flu in 11 provinces and autonomous regions and reported four confirmed human infections of bird flu.
